I didn't want to put pressure on Vanessa Hudgens—she's a little busy being pregnant with her second child, after all—but when we got halfway through October without any major spooky-season beauty moments, I started to worry. Is the Halloween Queen no longer feeling the spirit? So imagine my relief when her nail artist finally gave us a look at the witchy manicure the actor and entrepreneur will be wearing as we creep toward October 31.
Zola Ganzorigt, Hudgens's go-to nail tech, shared a video of what I've come to call the Hudgens Sleeve Hold—she's nothing if not consistent with how she models her manicures—and it's serving some serious dark magic.
The long, oval nails are painted mostly black, with a barely-there iridescent shade above each cuticle. On top of the black polish are tapering silver dots, and each ring finger has a bonus accent of a silver crescent moon.

Ganzorigt, who calls the negative-space look a “moon French,” tells Allure that she used OPI Black Onyx—a true Halloween classic—for the black base. Any metallic silver nail polish will do for dots and moon; we happen to love Le Mini Macaron's Silver Glow. And for that curve above the cuticle, you can try the sheer, pearly Olive & June Frosted Gloss.
“It's really simple, chic, yet Halloween-y," Ganzorigt tells Allure, and I couldn't agree more—though I don't think it's simple enough for me to recreate on my own, hence the appointment I just made at the nail salon. And hopefully—especially now that Vanessa Hudgens has provided the perfect inspiration—I won't be the only one there getting my nails ready for Halloween.
